BASKET DIE FROM ACCUQUILT

Getting fabric and Basket Die ready. Then I pressed the fabric and cut pieces to fit on the cutter (no pictures of this step.) And then the magic happens - just roll it through the Cutter and whalla! And last but not least I sewed them together and another whalla!
Am I proud! No really, aren't they cool! Gosh, darn I love my Go! Thank you ACCUQUILT!

Thank You Accuquilt!

My husband bought me an Accuquilt GO Cutter for Christmas and it came with a cutter able to cut 4" squares, 2" squares and 2" HST. It cuts like a dream - accurate, simple to use and able to cut several layers at a time which greatly reduces time spent cutting which I don't enjoy and allows me to spend more time sewing which I do enjoy.

A few weeks ago a blogging friend was awarded 3 die from Accuquilt and by mistake she received duplicates and to shorten the story, Accuquilt said I could have them!!!! I tell you, I didn't sleep a lot that night - was amazed at the generosity of both my friend and Accuquilt and very excited to be receiving 3 new die. And I am still amazed. Tried the Basket die today.

Great Give-A-Way

Good morning. Life has been busy and I haven't posted for awhile but I am back. First post I want to mention a great give away. Kim from Chatterbox Quilts out of Calgary has made the cover of Quilters' Connection Magazine which is pretty amazing but very deserved. If you haven't seen her creations before you are in for a treat. Anyway, to celebrate she is sponsoring a give-away at: www.http://chatterboxquilts.blogspot.com/

Happy Dance for Winning1

Melissa from http://www.ardeasnest.blogspot.com/  was part of the Accuquilt Spring Theme Blog Hop and she demonstated a very cute quilt about 42" square which can be made with or without the Go Cutter. I was particularly interested in this as while I have the machine, I only have the original dies that come with it and this is a quilt I can still make. Anyway - I will soon be the owner of 1/2 yard of each of these fabrics and I am very excited and grateful - first win for me and while I know I will continue to win, the first time is always the sweetest, don't you think. (lol) in quilting blog land anyway.

Accuquilt also has a contest going on for Barn Quilt Designs and Melissa has been accepted in the top 100 designs which is pretty good. Why don't you take a moment to vote for her?

Wow! Didn't realize how the creases would show - serves me right for being so lazy. Anyway this is my first Dresdan block and I really, really like making them. This was cut out of a charm pack and was very easy. I hand stitched the centres as I enjoy the stitching but another time I would use my machine. I have 3 more ready to bind. I would make a table runner next time.

Cloth Castle had their Quilt Club last Tuesday and here is the project for April:

I think it's lovely. It was made using a 9 degree wedge ruler and measures 36". Here is another pattern for the same ruler.
I didn't buy the ruler as I'm watching my pennies this week, but I do have a shorter one which makes 27" circles and comes with it's own pattern. Have added this pattern to my long list of must makes.

Here are my next  project which I am going to make for a friend who loves both Japanese fabrics and blues and purples. I picked this pattern up at Sweet Pea in Ladysmith.

And here is the pattern I purchased from Carlotta's Thread Company at the West Shore Quilt Show in Langford earlier this year. I want to make it for my four year old grand daughter who will be visiting at Easter and all the fabrics were found in my sewing room. tada! But first it's the dreaded TAX TIME and I have been working at finding all the information and then making sense of it all week-end (which is while I'm doing my blog, haha) I am once more promising myself that I will be more organized next year which is why I have found a full size 12 pocket accordian file to keep my years business invoices in. I plan on starting next week, once the accountant has the tax information. Man oh man do I dislike tax time, can you tell? Stresses me out. I'm thinking I might have to go out for dinner tonight. hmm, have to think about that one. Have a happy, healthy week.
